A class A, B, or C Fire Extinguisher is an emergency fire suppression device that is designed to either extinguish or control small fires. What is a dry powder fire extinguisher?
Dry powder fire extinguishers are the most commonly used fire extinguishers because of their ability to handle different kinds of fire. It can handle Class A, B & C fire as well as an electrical fire.
Extinguishing agent- A combination of mono ammonium phosphate (MAP) and ammonium sulfate, ABC Dry Powder not only cuts off the oxygen supply to the fire but also interferes with the chemical reaction necessary to sustain a fire.
How to use a CARTRIDGE TYPE fire extinguisher?
A cartridge-operated extinguisher contains liquid/powder and a separate pressure cartridge. The extinguisher is pressurized using the PASS method.
P- Pull the Pin
A- Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire
S- Squeeze the handle
S- Sweep the side to side
First, you activate the pressure cartridge, which immediately pumps up the pressure within the extinguisher itself. Once this step has been completed, you can operate the extinguisher by aiming, pushing, and sweeping for your main fire area.
